What is it?
The Thule T2 Pro bike rack is a hitch mounted tray style bike rack that can hold 2 bikes or optionally 4 bikes if you purchase the add-on extension. We purchased this rack because of the tray style mounting and the secure clamps and straps.
Torture Tested
Our rack has been used for four years and has about 6000 miles of travel on it. It has proven itself over the many small trips to local trails and even a few long distance drives such as a cross country trip on the back of an RV. The T2 rack held up to the hours of driving and constant shaking and vibrations coming from the RV, and is still going strong today. Not only has it withstood miles of usage it has also been through all types of weather conditions from pouring rain, to an uncleared snowy highway, to the 110 degree summer sun of Phoenix Arizona.
Bike Rack Pros and Cons
One feature that has been extremely useful is the ease of adjustability. Being the avid cyclists we are, we have many different types of bikes: light road bikes, tiny BMX bikes, and even one beastly 29in mountain bike. Whenever we want to go for a ride we just slide the rear mount to fit the tire we need and we are good to go.
The biggest complaint we hear a lot in our household is how big and heavy the rack is when it is not attached to a vehicle. This takes up a lot of space in the garage and can be hard to move onto the car when it is time for a ride. However the weight and size has made it one of the most reliable racks we have used to date. Not only is it reliable it is also well secured with built-in locks that we used all summer on our cross country trip and never had an issue.
Final Verdict
The durable nature of the T2 is what makes this bike rack a solid choice and is why we will continue to use this rack long into the future.
